There are two options available to you for migrating to Exchange 2010. Here are all three below. This article will give more detail on how to do Option 1 yourself.

1) Do it yourself - Free : The process is simply to create a new 4SmartPhone account using an Exchange 2010 Plan, create the mailbox(es) you need, then transfer your information from your Exchange 2007 mailbox(es) to your Exchange 2010 mailbox(es) using the Outlook export and import functions. When you are done migrating, you notify our support Team and we will delete your Exchange 2007 account.

2) Our VIP Professional Services can migrate you and take care of the whole process for you at a rate of $99/user. This includes setting up the new account for you, migrating the mailboxes themselves, handling DNS alterations that need to be made, as well as any other account settings, etc. For migrations of more than 5 mailboxes at a time, please contact us for a discounted quote for these services. Depending on your requirement (and budget) our VIP Therapist can even remote control your PCs to complete your local setup.

Here are the steps you need to take to migrate to Exchange 2010 yourself:

  1. Create the new account for 2010. Add your first mailbox. At this time, do no other configuration.
  2. Export all your email from Outlook to a PST (See HowTo Here)
  3. Remove all email addresses from the mailbox(es) and domain(s) (if any) from the 2007 account., except for the native serverdata.net or msoutlookonline.net address that came with the mailbox when you created it.
  4. Add the domain(s) and extra email address(es) to the new 2010 account. Finish configuring your new account as needed.
  5. Update DNS (MX records, Autodiscover, SPF etc.) you moved a domain.
  6. Update the forwarding address to the new "email@username.serverdata.net" address if you are forwarding email. Update your HOSTS file if you had to do this before for Autodiscover to work.
  7. From the new MyMailboxManager on your 2010 account, download and run the Outlook Profile Helper to reconfigure your new Outlook profile to connect to your new 2010 email box.
  8. Import your email back into Outlook's new Profile.
  9. Reconfigure your SmartPhone to connect to your new account and bring it into Sync.
  10. Test everything for a day or two to be sure all your settings are correct and working, and that your are sending and receiving email OK.
  11. Email support@4smartphone.net and let us know that your migration is done and your 2007 account is ready to be deleted.
